  Agoraphobia

Agoraphobia, in reference to the wide-open spaces of the prairie, is the theme for the 2008 Mid America Print Council juried exhibit. Artists were encouraged to explore their fears and those of others that may converge in this unique part of the United States, where there is more land than people. Beauvais Lyons, Professor of Art at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville was the invited juror for the exhibition.

The Mid America Print Council is pleased to announce the recipient of the first Anderson Ranch Art Center Presidential Scholarship Award. Emily Stokes “Best of Show” lithograph titled, Multi-Purpose Mixscape, was selected by Beauvais Lyons, exhibition juror, as the award winner in Agoraphobia, the 2008 MAPC Members Juried Exhibition. Emily will be attending a workshop next summer in Anderson Ranch's printmaking program.
